|God, in his love for us, chose to become a "yeastless"
man. The man Jesus. Jesus wasn't a good man, he was the perfect,
sinless man (2Cor.5:21) because he was God in flesh and God is the
only one with out sin. HE could "unyeast" us. And he did that by dying
on a cross. Why death, you ask? Again, the Bible tells us "the wages of sin
is death" (Rom. 3:23). Jesus did not have to die. He did it because he loves
us! God will accept Jesus as the wages for sin so we can be with God.
(Heb.2:9,14, 10:19-22, John 3:16,17)
Do you see now why the most important thing is one's eternal state? By understanding (and believing) all these things, we are able to come to a decision about our eternal state. And this is the best part. We have to make a decision. Even though Jesus died to take away sin, it still comes down to a personal decision. By acknowledging you can not be with God because you have sin and can not "repair" it yourself, but only through the gift of God's son (Ephesians 2:8,9) to take our place, than we can live eternally with God. Romans 10:9-12 says:
9 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."
12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,
13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
